Volunteers for Home Delivered Meal Program Sought;
Orientation Scheduled on March 19

(Placerville, CA) - The El Dorado County Senior Nutrition Program is currently looking for volunteers for the Home Delivered Meal program. Potential volunteers are invited to attend a volunteer orientation on March 19, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Placerville Senior Center located at 937 Spring Street in Placerville.

The Home Delivered Meal program, established under the Older Americans Act, provides a vital link in maintaining the health of older persons who have become more homebound due to physical or mental limitations. Most volunteers work one day a week on an assigned route, delivering meals from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

"If you like helping others and especially enjoy spending time with seniors, we could use your help," said Ruth Green, Program Coordinator for the Senior Nutrition Program. "Volunteer drivers often provide the only daily contact for some of our recipients. A delicious meal delivered with a smile can brighten any day." For those who cannot make a weekly commitment, back up drivers are also needed on an on-call basis.
