(El Dorado Hills, CA) – The El Dorado County Senior Nutrition Program is pleased to announce that its congregate dining site in El Dorado Hills is slated to re-open on March 1, 2023.

"Our El Dorado Hills dining site had been closed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic due to several factors, including multiple building repairs and staffing limitations," said Jillien Smith, Supervisor with El Dorado County Senior Services. "We are overjoyed to see this location re-opening to provide healthy lunchtime meals for our local seniors."

The Senior Nutrition Program's congregate dining site is located at the Gilmore Senior Center, 990 Lassen Lane in El Dorado Hills. Dine-in meals are served between 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for a suggested voluntary contribution of $3.00 per meal. Advanced reservations are required.

To celebrate the reopening, the Folsom Concert Association is sponsoring entertainment at the El Dorado Hills congregate dining site on March 1 from 11:00 a.m. to noon, with refreshments served, followed by the senior nutrition dine-in lunch of salmon and wild rice from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

"Our nutrition program provides a social atmosphere adjacent to many other senior activities conducted at the Gilmore Center for adults 60 years and older," said Smith. "This location has such a rich history of being a joyful place of connection and friendships. As we move past the pandemic, we are so happy to know that it will once again be a vibrant place for older adults to connect, receive nutritious meals and engage in daily activities with their peers."

According to Smith, during the El Dorado Hills closure the Senior Nutrition Program continued to actively serve meals at its other congregate dining sites located in Placerville, Pollock Pines, Greenwood, Pioneer Park, Cameron Park, and South Lake Tahoe. In addition to dine-in meals from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, take-out meals are available for indoor pick-up between 11:30 12:15 p.m. at each of the congregate dining sites.

Individuals interested in having meals through the Senior Nutrition Program are asked to make a reservation no later than the day before they would like to dine-in or take-out a meal. To make a reservation, or for program information, please call Senior Nutrition at (530) 621-6160. Individuals may also complete a monthly calendar meal request. Senior Nutrition is a program of the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA).
