Due to the ongoing Caldor Fire tragedy, the majority of the Building Department's workload capacity has been redirected to help our involved citizens. Until further notice, all areas of permitting and inspection will be at a reduced capacity. The Building Department is open, however, our services are very limited.
We appreciate your patience during this trying time for the citizens of our community.
In order to create a more efficient work environment for staff and to provide the best customer service, effective June 23, 2020, the inspection request line, 530/621-5377 will be an “answer only” extension. All inspection operations (scheduling, checking status, canceling, etc) will be conducted through the E-TRAKiT online system. This tool is continuously available all day, with no need for personal assistance. ALL customers will need an E-TRAKIT account.

If your inspection request is received prior to 4:00 p.m., you will receive a confirmation via email. If you do not receive a confirming email by 4:00 p.m. the day prior to your requested inspection date, please call (530) 621-5377 to confirm your request. If we are experiencing inclement weather, please call our building closure line at 530-573-3050 or

You can verify your scheduled inspection on our website after 8:00 a.m. on the day of the inspection.
