Communicable Disease Education and Outbreak Investigation

Nurses and health educators respond to requests for information about communicable disease such as rabies, West Nile virus, meningitis, and tuberculosis. They also investigate, control and prevent outbreaks of disease in the community. To reach the communicable disease control team, call (530) 621-6320.

Immunizations

Vaccines can help prevent the spread of communicable diseases among people. Our pediatric vaccines are provided to us through the federally funded Vaccines for Children program which enables us to offer them at low or no cost to people without health insurance or are underinsured. These vaccines are the same name brands offered in private practice. For more info on our Immunization Program click here.

Tuberculosis Testing

Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious disease that attacks the lungs and can lead to death if not properly treated. TB is spread by breathing in germs from an infected person. The only way to find out if you are infected with TB is to have a PPD skin test. The test is quick and painless. Results are usually available in two to three days. If you are from a country where TB infection rates are high or have recently come in contact with someone who has active TB, then a PPD skin test is recommended. Call us to schedule an appointment.
