Respite and Support for Family Caregivers

The federally-funded Family Caregiver Support Program (FCSP) provides a system of support services to help informal caregivers of older adults who do not have access to a support system may experience burnout leading to increased stress and other problems. This program helps address these and other caregiver challenges. (530) 621-6151.

During the closure, the Club's are offering numerous areas of support to our members and their families. From regular phone calls, to group video activities, youtube recorded videos, activity drive-bys, video support groups, craft kits and loaning library of activity supplies.  Please contact us at (530) 621-6180 in Placerville or (916) 358-3560 in El Dorado Hills if you are interested in more information about becoming a member and gaining access to these resources.

Twice Monthly Online Dementia Caregiver Support Groups

Support group meetings are crucial in offering education and emotional support so that caregivers do not feel alone, especially during this unprecedented time. Those providing care for their loved ones with dementia have a wealth of experience to share with each other and can also look to each other for support and advice.

During the COVID-19 outbreak, all support group meetings have moved to phone and online video calls. The two monthly support groups hosted by the Clubs in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, are now offered on conference calls or Google hangouts.  The meetings take place the second Tuesday of every month from 5:30pm-7:00pm. 24/7 Alzheimer’s Association Helpline

The Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline (800-272-3900) is available around the clock, 365 days a year. Through this free service, specialists and master’s-level clinicians offer confidential support and information to people living with the disease, caregivers, families and the public.
