While this site provides information about State and County policies and regulations, the possession, use, cultivation, and commercial sale of marijuana remains illegal under the Controlled Substances Act and could be subject to Federal prosecution.

Medical Marijuana Growing Restrictions

You may be able to use 200, 400 or 600 square feet to grow cannabis outdoors, only for personal medical use.
El Dorado County has a temporary ban of up to two years (until December 12, 2019) on commercial licenses for both medical and recreational (adult) cannabis, with some exceptions.
Adults over 21 may grow up to six plants indoors per residence for personal non-medical use.
Driving and smoking or consuming cannabis is considered driving impaired and subject to penalties under State law. It is also illegal under State law to possess an open container or open package of cannabis or cannabis products or to smoke or consume cannabis while riding as a passanger in a vehicle, boat, or other form of transportation.
Proposition 64 does not allow the sale of homegrown cannabis, whether whole plant, clippings, clones, or any product derived from any part of the plant.
El Dorado County has not authorized smoking or consuming medical or recreational cannabis in any public place.
There is no location in the unincorporated area of El Dorado County to purchase adult use (recreational) cannabis. Delivery of cannabis to your residence in the County is prohibited.
