(Placerville, Calif.)—The El Dorado County Department of Transportation completed a blanket patch asphalt overlay on key sections of Ponderosa Road. The work occurred over approximately three miles between Jackpine Road and Green Valley Road.
According to John Edwards, Highway Maintenance Supervisor, the recent project is a follow up to work that occurred three years ago on Ponderosa Road. “At the time we just concentrated on the worst sections of the road, and since then sections in between have deteriorated,” said Edwards.
The project was funded through the county road fund. Material costs for the overlay project are estimated at $120,000. DOT crews began the work on October 11, and completed the project by October 19.
Ponderosa Road provides access to Ponderosa High School and serves as a primary connector between Highway 50 and Green Valley Road.
“This project should improve the commute quite a bit and actually make a lot smoother, safer road for the public,” said Edwards.
