The El Dorado County Community Development Agency – Transportation Division has scheduled the annual Mosquito Bridge Maintenance beginning Monday July 11th, 2016. Dates are as follows and project dates are estimates based on favorable weather conditions:
The Historic Mosquito Bridge over the South Fork of the American River located north of Placerville was built in 1867. Annual maintenance is required to keep the bridge safe and functional. Bridge closure will be needed for all traffic during the full 24 hour closure period, with work anticipated to begin at approximately 7:00 AM on Monday July 11th. The County Bridge Crew will be replacing the damaged railing timbers (6"x8"x24’). During time of bridge closure, motorists will need to use State Highway 193 to Rock Creek Road as a detour. Slower speeds and caution are highly recommended.
Portable changeable message signs will be placed in proximity to the bridge to keep motorists updated on any changes to the timing of the project.
Your cooperation and patience during this project is appreciated. Questions regarding maintenance activities may be directed to the Transportation Division’s Maintenance Unit at (530) 642-4909.
