(Cool, CA)— The El Dorado County Office of Economic Development, in partnership with the Divide Chamber of Commerce, releases a report today on their joint Business Walk in the communities of Georgetown, Cool, Pilot Hill, Garden Valley, and Greenwood.
A summary of the report shows 68% of business owners on the Divide identified business as good with “knowing your customers” as the number one reason why they like doing business on the Divide. When asked what needs to be done to improve the business climate, the number one response was more advertising and Chamber-hosted events.
“While there have been several outreach efforts to these communities in the past few years, this is the area’s first walk that resulted in an official report,” said Megan Arevalo from the County Economic Development Office. We believe it will prove a valuable asset to businesses in the Divide.”
The purpose of the Business Walk is to take the pulse of businesses in the area and determine what tools and techniques businesses find useful. One such tool the Divide Chamber is currently working on is a four-phase North County Community Sign Project. The Chamber was awarded a Cultural and Community Development Grant by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors for phase one of the project. “The unified Community Signs along with the newly established Adventure Loop Tour will promote additional tourism to the North County which is critically needed for the economic health of the region,” said Chamber representative Linnea Marenco.
The Chamber will present and discuss the results of the walk during its monthly mixer on February 4, 2014 from 5:30-7:30 P.M. at the Cork & Fork Restaurant, 3006 Highway 49, Cool, CA 95614. The public is invited to attend.
The Business Walk was conducted on October 17, 2013 and the full report may be viewed at www.edcgov.us/Government/Economic/Business_Resources/Data_Center.aspx.
