EL DORADO COUNTY ELECTIONS OFFICE ANNOUNCES
CHANGES IN SOUTH LAKE TAHOE FOR SUBMITTING RECALL BALLOTS DUE TO CALDOR FIRE
(PLACERVILLE, CA) – Due to the Caldor Fire evacuations in the South Lake Tahoe basin, County Elections officials are temporarily closing the ballot drop boxes there used for the Gubernatorial Recall Election scheduled for September 14th, 2021. The County does not want to be unable to retrieve ballots placed in the boxes due to evacuations.
Ballots can be mailed postage paid, or dropped in the Placer County ballot drop box in Tahoe City at The Old Fire House at 300 N Lake Blvd.
A Vote Center is currently scheduled to open on Saturday, September 4th at the South Lake Tahoe Community College, but that may be postponed or moved depending on fire and evacuations. Please check our website or Facebook for updates later this week.
Specifically changes include:
South Lake Tahoe
- Drop Boxes are temporarily closed. Please mail your ballot, postage paid through the USPS
- Vote Center at South Lake Tahoe Community College may not be able to open on time on September 4th. It may be moved or opened late depending on conditions due to the Caldor Fire. Check the Election Website for up-to-date information.
- SLT Ballots can be mailed postage paid, or dropped in the Placer County ballot drop box in Tahoe City at The Old Fire House at 300 N Lake Blvd.
West Slope
- Pioneer Park 4-day vote center scheduled to open September 11th, depending on conditions.
- Cameron Park CSD Vote Center has been moved to the Cameron Park Library next door. Will open on September 4th.
