PLACERVILLE, CA – El Dorado County is holding a day of public meetings in South Lake Tahoe to gather input for broadband planning and improvement on Thursday, January 18th. The County is working with consulting firm NEO Connect to conduct a Broadband Feasibility Study to evaluate current broadband resources and identify options for improving connectivity and expanding broadband across the County.
"We are asking for the public's input, along with that of Internet users in particular sectors – health and community service providers, educators, business owners and work-from-home-professionals – to ensure comprehensive Internet development," said Shiva Frentzen, District 2 Supervisor and Board appointee on the Technical Advisory ad-hoc committee. "I encourage public participation as our primary goals are to maximize broadband availability and cost while taking full advantage of available funding opportunities."
Meetings will be held with a focus on the needs of five different audiences: business and professional; public safety (first responders and law enforcement); schools and libraries; healthcare; and the general public. Meetings will be held at the Tahoe Mountain Lab at 3079 Harrison Ave. #13, South Lake Tahoe. They will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 6:45 p.m. Below is the schedule for the meetings:
