The Assessor, the Auditor and the Tax Collector each play a role in property tax administration. The Assessor is responsible for maintaining the inventory of all assessable property in the county and preparing the various assessment rolls which are the basis of the property tax bills.

Property taxation in California has become complicated and difficult to understand. This web site is one way to help property owners, residents, the business community and anyone else seeking information about property taxation.

If you have questions, need clarification, or simply want more information, call, e-mail assessor@edcgov.us or drop by and see us Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (excluding holiday weeks in which our hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Thank you for electing me to serve as your Assessor. The El Dorado County Assessor’s Office enjoys a good reputation and our staff is among the best in public service. I am committed to maintaining that reputation through fair, impartial assessments and outstanding public service.

Thank You

Karl Weiland
