The mission
of the Environmental Management Department is to protect,
preserve, and enhance the public health, safety, and environment
through a balanced program of environmental monitoring and
enforcement, innovative leadership, community education, customer
service, and emergency response for the citizens of and the
visitors to El Dorado County.

River Management
El Dorado
County adopted an updated River Management Plan in November 2001 to improve
the County's management of whitewater recreation on the South Fork
of the American River below Chili Bar Dam. The County's goals are
to preserve the river corridor's environmental resources; protect the
area's rural character; reduce conflicts between residents and boaters;
and maintain a quality whitewater boating experience.
Solid Waste
& Hazardous Materials
Implementing
the hazardous materials, household hazardous waste, solid
waste,recycling programs and wells for monitoring and geotechnical
studies.
Tahoe
Division / Vector Control
For your
convenience, Environmental Management maintains a satellite
office in the Lake Tahoe Basin: Environmental Health programs,
Vector/Mosquito Abatement program, and snow removal for
County facilities in the South Lake Tahoe area.
